Door County Maritime Museum & Lighthouse Preservation Society, Inc. We are a maritime history museum. We have a digital app (Bloomberg Arts & Culture) that can provide accessible information on all our exhiibts.

The Door County Maritime Museum preserves Great Lakes maritime history, primarily focusing on Door County, Wisconsin, and provides interpretative and educational opportunities for current and future generations. We do not allow pets, or emotional support animals in the museum, only properly trained service animals are allowed. *Rest rooms are for museum guests only and located off the first, and second floor lobbies in the legacy museum (not the tower). If you wish to donate an item that may be of historic significance, please see the "donation" page on our website for instructions on how to begin that process (www.dcmm.org)

Fair Winds to Captain Camilla Ross. Captain Ross passed away this month at the age of 95. She was the first female commercial captain on the Chicago River. She did that after her career as a chemist. She graciously donated her Merchant Mariner dress uniform to our museum a few short years ago where it has been on display since in the Commercial Shipping Exhibit in the Horton Gallery.

The modern bridges are just the latest chapter in the many ways people have found to get across the bay over the years. We began with a ferry service, that grew to a private rail road bridge - that for a price you could drive your car across. Today we still use the historic Michigan Street Bridge, and you can put your hands on the original controls of that bridge in the DCMM Bridge Room.
