The Suffolk Art League is officially accepting vendor applications for our highly anticipated autumn shopping event: the Bosley Artist Market! Held at the beautiful Suffolk Art Gallery, this market is the perfect opportunity to showcase and sell your work to holiday shoppers looking for unique, high-quality, handcrafted gifts.

We are seeking a curated mix of local and regional fine artists, makers, and contemporary craftspeople across all mediums—including painting, pottery, jewelry, woodcraft, textiles, glass, and gourmet artisan goods.

📅 Event Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026

📍 Location: Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave. Suffolk, VA 23434

Prime Holiday Timing: Kick off the seasonal shopping rush with a dedicated crowd looking to buy local and handmade.

Summer Instructor Spotlight! Cynthia Quesenberry is teaching a PMC Copper course as part of our Teen Master Art Workshops series. Cindy teaches metal clay workshops across Hampton Roads. She is a former teacher and master of the PMC medium. This class is a great opportunity for teens to learn from an experienced craftswoman and build their portfolios with a new and wearable art form.

Summer Instructor Spotlight! Abby Reed (hi! it's me!) is teaching a printmaking intensive as part of our Teen Master Art Workshops series. Students will be introduced to kitchen lithography and relief carving. Then we'll make larger, professional-grade linoleum prints. This class is a great opportunity for teens to learn from an experienced printmaker and build their portfolios with a twist on a classic art form.

✨ ThrowbackThursday: 50 Years of Creativity in Suffolk! ✨

Take a look at this incredible snapshot from the 1980s, taken right here at the gallery! It captures a lively dance camp with a stunning Judith Godwin painting serving as the backdrop. This single image perfectly illustrates the lasting legacy of the Suffolk Art League and our enduring dedication to keeping all forms of art accessible to our community.

That Judith Godwin painting has a beautiful history of its own. It was originally gifted to the City of Suffolk through the efforts of the Suffolk Art League. After hanging in a local bank for many years, the bank closed, and a passionate group of Art League volunteers campaigned tirelessly to save this significant piece from oblivion. Because of their dedication, it found a home at the Suffolk Art Gallery for decades—and it will soon move to its new permanent home in the new Suffolk Public Library!

Just as we cultivated creative spaces then, we are continuing that mission today. Registration is officially open for our upcoming summer programs, including an exciting new addition: Percussion Camp for elementary students! 🥁
