Working on a human anatomy of a pregnant woman in an antique frame I’ve been saving for over 5 years. Overwhelming is an understatement, but I need to get out of my comfort zone!

Sometimes, after a serious of tedious, complicated mosaics, a girl just wants to have fun! 🤩 This cat peeking over a fence reminds me every silly cat I’ve had.😁

Update: she is finally complete! And already sold.

Mary’s halo is complete, after much testing and laying out different materials. Still so much pop to do, though. The entire frame is very antique and needs restaining, the glass needs to be grouted different colors. Probably two more days of work.

The inspiration for this mosaic is from rhododendron trees at Abbotsford Castle in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Walking by, one is instantly struck by the beauty of the pink flowers, ripe and peaked and laying on the ground like a pink blanket.

But the to get the true feeling one has to walk through the tree break and under it all. Suddenly, an amazing space opens up and the stark beauty of the branches, spent and empty, hover overhead like a bird with its wings spread, protecting its young. It was breathtaking!

Made this in Antarctica in 2023 and finally just made the frame today. I’m giving it to a co-worker and his wife to bring back with them to Canada 🍁. They love the weather in Texas, so this will hopefully be a happy reminder of their time here!
