Give a warm welcome to Katy Boykin, who is joining us for 10 weeks as a Gyo Obata Fellow, a program supporting students interested in arts administration and management.

Katy will expand our events offerings by developing a new leadership workshop and wellness retreat concept that engages mid- to upper-level managers and emerging leaders through creative thinking practices rooted in art, nature, reflection, and collaboration.

She is excited to support the organizationโ€™s mission, and to spend her lunch breaks outside enjoying the beauty of the Park.

Katy recently graduated with honors from Webster University with Bachelor of Music in Composition with emphasis in Concert Music. She is a composer, a multi-instrumentalist specializing in woodwinds and brass, as well as an accomplished conductor, pianist, and jazz vocalist.

For the last four years, she has worked in production management and DEI advocacy in nonprofits like the Community Music School and the Missouri Chamber Music Festival. As a Black, q***r, and autistic woman she is dedicated to cultivating a more inclusive arts community.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the many ways art invites us to explore identity, embrace individuality, and experience the richness of human expression. Art has the power to open minds, foster understanding, and create space for everyone to belong.

Happy Pride Month to our guests, staff, artists, volunteers, and community members who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. ๐ŸŒˆ For 50 years, Laumeier has been open to all and recognizes creativity flourishes when everyone feels welcome, seen, and valued.
