🔧 Day One of Meteor Crack Repair is in the books! ⚓

Now that the SS Meteor’s season has officially come to a close for the year, we wasted no time getting our friends from Fraser Shipyards on board to begin repairs on the hull!

The project is expected to take about 10 days, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally get this long-awaited repair underway! We’ll be sharing updates as work progresses, so stay tuned to see how things are going aboard the world’s last above-ground whaleback ship! 🚢

A huge thank-you to the team at Fraser Shipyards for helping us preserve this incredible piece of maritime history for generations to come! ❤️

This is your last weekend to visit the Meteor and the Firehall in 2026!

After this weekend we will close our two seasonal museums until Spring 2027. In the off season we will conduct repairs, upgrade infrastructure, and add new exhibits and artifacts to each site!

Join us for one final weekend before we say goodbye to two of our three museums for the year.

👗✨ Have you ever seen a closet like this?!

Tucked away on the second floor of Fairlawn Mansion is a built-in cedar closet! Cedar closets were common during the Victorian Era as a way to protect garments that were vulnerable to damage and preserve treasured family heirlooms. The special properties of cedar wood help repel pests and absorb moisture, making it an ideal place to store delicate clothing and textiles.

Today, we use Fairlawn’s cedar closet to store some of our furs and historic textiles—but there’s one very special garment being kept inside right now! 💍

Museum Manager Jordan is using the closet to safely store her wedding dress until her big day! 👰‍♀️💐

It’s pretty fitting, because this is exactly the kind of thing the cedar closet would have been used for when the Pattisons lived at Fairlawn. A little piece of Victorian tradition is still being put to use today! ❤️

🎨 We had such a great time meeting with local artists and creatives at the Superior Council for the Arts Creative Industries Summit!

Jess, Jordan, Bella, and Evaline were proud to represent Superior Historic Properties and connect with so many talented people who are making our community more creative, vibrant, and inspiring. ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this such an awesome event! We left feeling inspired, energized, and excited for what’s ahead. 💙
