OPENING TODAY - OUT OF THE BOX: 3D Explorations | Thursday, 8/27 | 4p-7p

Out of the Box: 3D Explorations celebrates the creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship of 13 artists working beyond the flat surface. The show highlights a diverse collection of three-dimensional works that invite viewers to experience art from every angle. Through sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and found objects each piece challenges traditional boundaries while exploring the relationship between form, space, texture, and movement.

The works on display reflect a wide range of ideas and artistic approaches—from abstract investigations of shape and balance to personal narratives and imaginative constructions. By transforming everyday materials and pushing the possibilities of three-dimensional design, the resulting art demonstrates how creativity can literally and figuratively move "out of the box."

Featuring the extraordinary work of Joanna Angelos, Barbara Balzer, John Derian, Mark Dickson, Elizabeth Eckels, Todd K Fox, Joan Gaspar-Hart, Ron Mynatt, Lesley Nolan, Will Ortman, Anthony Quickle, Cheryl Sattler, and Wellman & Welsch Pottery.

Opening TOMORROW, 8/27 - Out of the Box: 3D Explorations | 4p-7p. signatureartgallery.com

Featuring the work of Anthony Quickle, whose guiding methodology of sculpture is to make the inorganic look organic...or the organic look inorganic. Tony insists he always honors the material that he's using (doesn't try to impersonate another material...e.g. doesn't carve stone to look like wood...), but the goal is to change the viewer's perspective. To see something different...creating a vessel for the viewer's imagination. Tony strives for clean lines and objects of beauty.

Out of the Box also features the extraordinary work of Joanna Angelos, Barbara Balzer, John Derian, Mark Dickson, Elizabeth Eckels, Todd K Fox, Joan Gaspar-Hart, Ron Mynatt, Lesley Nolan, Will Ortman, Cheryl Sattler, and Wellman & Welsch Pottery.

NEW Will Ortman glass just in time for Out of the Box: 3D Explorations! Join us Thursday, 8/27 from 4pm-7pm and experience the creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship of 13 artists working beyond the flat surface. signatureartgallery.com

Will Ortman graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a fine art degree focused in glass blowing. His objective as an artist is to create aesthetic forms using incredibly rich colors and textures. Will says, "There are many reasons why I work with glass, but what really hooked me was the opportunity glass provides to play with color. Glass allows for variations of intensity of hue, tone and depth and I have always been captivated by the way colors come to light on a glass surface. Glass can do everything that other sculptural media can; in addition, the ways in which color can be layered on glass provides a unique three-dimensional quality of depth."

Currently, Will is exploring the incalmo technique and have been incorporating cane working and complex Murine designs. Using traditional Italian techniques, he draws inspiration from Asian cultural art, and this has allowed Will to find a style of his own.

13 days until the opening of Out of the Box: 3D Explorations! Join us Thursday, August 27 from 4p-7p and experience the creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship of artists working beyond the flat surface. signatureartgallery.com

Out of the Box features the work of Lesley Nolan. Reactions to current or specific situations, emotions, or memories are the jumping off points for Lesley's creations. She uses the caricature of gestures, expression, posture of dress to tell each one’s story. She uses humor and whimsical wordplay as a way of dancing around serious ideas. Sometimes tongue-in-cheek, punny or droll, it may even make you groan. She considers her art like a “strange little imaginary family” that she creates stories for and hopes the viewer will do the same.

The exhibit also features the extraordinary work of Joanna Angelos, Barbara Balzer, John Derian, Mark Dickson, Elizabeth Eckels, Todd K Fox, Joan Gaspar-Hart, Ron Mynatt, Will Ortman, Anthony Quickle, Cheryl Sattler, and Wellman & Welsch Pottery.

SAVE THE DATE! Out of the Box: 3D Explorations opens Thursday, 8/27 from 4p-7p.

Featuring the work of Elizabeth Eckels, a sculptor and mixed-media artist whose work transforms clay, figurative form, and expressive surfaces into meditations on nature, resilience, vulnerability, unity, and joy. Elizabeth creates sculptural narratives — groupings of figurative forms and paintings that explore nature, perseverance, adversity, unity, vulnerability, and joy. Rodin’s influence is evident in her expressive surfaces, while the spirit of dance, inspired in part by her husband, a former Alvin Ailey–trained dancer, animates her forms.
