Wake Up Tampa Bay - Meditation Group

Wake Up Tampa Bay - Meditation Group A mindfulness and meditation group for people aged 18 through 35 in the Tampa Bay area. Together we learn how to engage with life mindfully and joyfully.

About Us:

Wake Up Tampa Bay is a mindfulness and meditation group for people in their 20s and 30s. We are a group of peers who support each other in our practices of mindfulness and meditation and in leading wholesome, healthy, happy lives. We take inspiration and guidance from Buddhist teachings and help each other see how we can apply them to our lives. However, this group is open for everyone

in our age group, Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. In addition to having regular meditations and Dharma discussions, we also enjoy spending time together and touching the nourishing elements that are in us and around us in our Tampa Bay community. We like to have vegan potlucks, watch documentaries, play volleyball, attend museum exhibits, take walks in nature, play board games, or do whatever else we find worthwhile together. We practice mindful speech and deep listening at all our gatherings in order to nourish each other and learn to connect with people in a healthy way. We are also mindful of what we consume in order to help nourish and preserve our health and the planetโ€™s health. All our events are alcohol, tobacco, drug, and animal product free. We look forward to meeting and spending time with you. For more information, please visit:

Half Day of Mindfulness with Angie Parrish
07 Dec 2024 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Location In-Person and Online

FCM's Days of Mindfulness are offered both In-Person at the Tampa Practice Center and Online. Whether you are a new or experienced meditator, our Days of Mindfulness are an opportunity to support and deepen the practice of mindfulness and meditation, and nourish the seeds of well being, inner peace and openness in our lives.

The day will be a chance for all of us to put down the busyness of our lives and to relax, refresh, and renew with the healing energy of mindfulness. The day is an opportunity to experiment with letting go of our stories and dramas about our lives and the world. Instead we will practice simply be present to, and nourished by, our actual experience in the present moment.

We hope you all had a restful weekend and a joyful start to the week.

I often hold my breath, and tense my stomach and shoulders while doing my desk work. Remember to breathe deep and engage your practices throughout the day ๐Ÿ™

May we all have a happy Thanksgiving; with nourishing conversations and connections

Are you sure? - a calligraphy by Thich Nhat Hanh

"Nuclear scientists have a view concerning electrons that they are pleased with, but they are careful. They continue to develop better accelerators, because they know that there is more to be discovered. They know that all views about the electrons are wrong views. We practitioners must do the same. We can never be sure of our views. Attachment to views is the greatest obstacle in the practice. We should be patient and careful, never too sure of our perceptions.

In each of us there is a river of perceptions flowing day and night. To meditate means to sit on the bank of the river and observe all perceptions. With the energy of mindfulness, we can see the nature of our perceptions and untie the knots that bind us to our wrong perceptions. All our suffering has its roots in our wrong perceptions, so please practice the mantra, 'Are you sure?' Always refer to it, and try to look more and more deeply."

Thich Nhat Hanh (From a Dharma talk on the Four Noble Truths, September 1994)
