Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm Explore 200+ years of rural living and the legacy of two country doctors while visiting their idyllic historic farmstead. Remick. Enoch Remick House).

Located in the village of Tamworth, New Hampshire, Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm is a historic site and working farm featuring exhibits, gardens, walking trails and more. Visitors are invited to explore 200+ years of NH’s agricultural traditions combined with the unique story of two country doctors, the Drs. Offering seasonal learning, family-friendly activities, adult tours and workshops, a

nd special events. Remick has twice been named an “Editors’ Pick: Best of New England” by Yankee Magazine and voted a “Family Favorite” by the readers of Parenting NH Magazine. Weather permitting, there is an entire farmstead to explore, an activity we call free-range “farmsploring.” Farmsploring includes the activities mentioned above, as well as the opportunity to visit with the farm animals in their pastured settings. As you stroll the grounds, you will encounter self-led activities that encourage you to learn about the farm, nature and science. Admission is pay as you wish (donations appreciated). Building and barn access is limited due to renovation projects currently underway. However, the Museum Center offers introductory exhibits about the Remick family and the farmstead, and Medical History Tours provide a glimpse into the home life and work of the Drs. Remick, with a visit to the 2nd-floor apartment once home to "Doc” and Marion Remick (located in the Center; extended afternoon tour only), and the medical office used by both Drs. 🏠 Here at Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm, we are working to restore our longstanding structures to their rightful dignity within the charming village in which they stand. Particularly in 2026, we are focusing on the exterior of the Captain Enoch Remick House. With an initial build c. 1808, the building has several architectural points of interest, housed generations of the Remick family, served as a town meeting hall (3rd floor) and a hotel (with evidence pointing toward an on-site tavern), was a stop along the Center Harbor-Conway stage coach route, housed the medical practice of the Drs. Remick (individually and jointly), and was the boyhood home of the younger doctor, Dr. Edwin “Doc” C. Remick. The lower level of the house is open for guided medical history tours during warmer months (June-mid-October), and we invite you to join us!

Dr Edwin Remick was born in Tamworth on this day in 1866, to Levi and Harriet (Beede) Remick. He was the great-great-grandson of Dr. Joseph Boyden, Tamworth’s first physician, and the father of Dr. Edwin “Doc” C. Remick. After the younger Edwin graduated from medical school, father and son operated a shared medical practice in designated rooms of the Captain Enoch Remick House from 1929-1935, the year the elder doctor died in his son’s arms.

The third photo shows the elder Dr. Remick standing in front of the Captain Enoch Remick House. The main portion of the medical practice was located in a large front room on the ground floor, situated to the right when entering the formal front entrance of the building (the entrance shown here).

It’s time for our annual Marion Miles Remick Bird Walk! This Saturday, join us for a guided walk to discover the vital role the REMICK property plays in the lives of migratory birds.

Who was Marion Miles Remick? Marion (1906–1980) lived on this site from her marriage to Doc Remick in 1929 until her death. In addition to her interests in flower gardening, cats, and horse racing, Marion enjoyed birdwatching.

Marion’s interest in birding may have been encouraged by the grounds where she once lived, which provide a sweeping landscape and a variety of bird habitats, including forests, fields and open water. Avid birders have spotted at least 89 bird species on the Remick grounds. Learn more about Marion and the “birds of Remick” with your interpretive guide while enjoying the expansive property.

+ Meet this dynamic duo when you join us this Saturday (May 23) for our annual 🐦‍⬛ Marion Miles Remick Bird Walk at 11 AM. Held in honor of Doc Remick’s wife, an avid birder, this guided walk will explore the farmstead grounds in search of as many of the 89 (UPDATE: 91!) migratory birds recorded on the property as can be spotted. Recent sightings have included bluebirds, bobolinks, swallows, warblers, wrens, vireos… $5 | FREE for members.* Ages 12+. Limited space; preregistration is required by 10:45 AM.
