Rogers-based artist Jay Benham, who is of Kiowa heritage, is bringing new dimensions to the legacy of ledger art, a painting and drawing style that emerged during a period of upheaval as Native Americans were forcibly removed from the Great Plains in the 19th century.

Hi, my name is Neil Zarama - Born July 1969 in a California Catholic home for u***d mothers. As I took my first breath, nuns swiftly carried me away given up for adoption a few days later because I was a "MERCILESS INDIAN SAVAGE" halfbreed. From Alaska to Arizona, from NYC to California... Thousands upon thousands of Native children endured this same faith & most were not as lucky as I was, in fact many did not survive.
