Dear friends and client friends, I might ought to have written this post a month or so ago. Sorry for the delay. I have chosen to close the gallery. The year 2021 was wonderful, I had just moved to Taos in June and opened the gallery in July. Met lots of great people who helped me along the way—too many to name, you know who you are. Sales were good and I was loving navigating having a new gallery. As 2022 unfolded sales were way down and my location deemed not optimal. Every day I went to the gallery smiling and feeling optimistic but underneath that I felt a sense of sadness and begin to lose my enthusiasm as the days drug on throughout the spring and summer. The Plein Air Painters show was a lot of fun and invigorating but I knew I needed to close. It was devastating for me and my next chapter of life is unfolding slowly.
Nick is off to college at NC State as a sophomore and Tessa is studying in Nairobi this semester.
I bought a bit of a fixer-upper in Arroyo Seco so that’s enough for now. Please reach out if you do desire, I would love to hear from you.
Molly

“Oral tradition is essential to
the future of
our Native American neighbors.” Beverly Branch
“I Know this Land” size: 30” x 24”
Women have traditionally collected the plants and foods Mother Earth provides us for sustenance and healing. She knows when the mushrooms appear in the mountain shade and where the best clay is to dig for her pots. She knows when the best time is to harvest watercress. She is intimate with
all of it; the rocks, the trees, and the water.
“How to Talk with the Clouds” size: 48” x 24”
This is essentially praying for rain,
because, at times, rain has been the only method for moisture being delivered to growing crops. The ancient practice of prayers and ceremony, especially for life-giving rain, is perhaps more vital than ever before.

Cynthia's words:
It’s the silence. I paint using either watercolors or water-mixable oils, often outside in Nature, to express the silence and peace I experience and see in the grand vistas of the Southwest High Desert. I want the person looking at my paintings to feel wonder and the sense of silent serenity of those grand natural vistas. I use my paints and compositions to capture the incredible light, atmosphere, and distance surrounding us.
I also paint florals in the same impressionistic style, mostly roses, sunflowers, and blooming cacti. These are always painted from life. And the studio and I benefit from their beauty and wonderful aromas.
I have been inspired for many years by the paintings of the early California Plein Air painters. In particular, I continue to study and find inspiration in the works of Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel, Sam Hyde Harris, William Wendt, and Guy Rose.
Born in 1948, I live just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, with fellow artist and husband JK Inson, our dear pup Lucy Rocket and an extraordinary cat, Lupine.
Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts and Art History-Wichita State, University Masters of Anthropology and Archeology-Wichita State University
Memberships: Oil Painters of America, Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, Plein Air Artists of Colorado, American Impressionistic Society

Kim seeks out her specialty stones from all over New Mexico and her turquoise from as far as Kingman, AZ.
See what Kim has to say:
"Mother Nature has provided us with such beauty and intrigue within our geology through the elements of change and time. The rocks I am drawn to using, cutting, shaping, and polishing myself with my lapidary equipment and tools are Turquoise, American Mined from Kingman, Arizona. I am also very fond of Fossilized Dinosaur Bone of all colors, mule deer antler that I have found, Cerrillos Turquoise from just south of Santa Fe, Sonoran Sunrise with its bright irresistible reds, Rosarita which is red glass slag from Gold smelters, and American Mined raw tumbled diamonds. I also use purple Lepidolite from the Harding mine outside Dixon, New Mexico, and bright green Smithsonite from the Kelly mine area in Magdalena, New Mexico. I feel connected to these stones and find it natural to shape and design each piece as unique and one of a kind.

Collecting the rocks is all part of the adventure and creation of the design to your adornment." KIM HENKEL

Chuck’s work is unique and special because I first bought a 4’ x 4’ painting of his in Austin at Maiko restaurant in 2010. I admired it in my house every day, and now I am pleased to represent Chuck’s work in my gallery. Come by and see his paintings or visit online at wildsagegallery.com!
Chucks take on Taos:

“Taos holds a special place in my heart: In 1994, I attended the summer painting program at SMU-in-Taos, which is just outside of town in Ranchos de Taos. Once-TX Governor Bill Clements donated the land and helped build the facilities – I was the oldest and poorest person there, but we had some great teachers, painting by day and camping by night was fun, and I made a lifetime friend.

One night said friend and I went to the Taos ‘Convention Center’ to see JJ Cale – I talked my way on stage and played conga drums to ‘Cocaine’ (one of JJ’s big hits), my friend had said he’d bow down to me like a king if I got up there so, of course, I did!

I’m sure things have changed a bit since then, but I bet some things, not so much. Time passes differently there in Taos.
These pieces have more literal meaning than most of my stuff-full-on surrealist/abstract/realist paintings. Their frames are simple strip frames I made but are different woods to complement each piece; cherry, poplar, walnut, and white oak. They’re all 24”x 18” without a frame, another inch or so with.” Chuck Voelter

All paintings are acrylic, priced at $800.

By then, I had moved to Topanga, California. I found a spinning teacher and began to spin and make one-of-a-kind wearable art. Now I am on the Board of the Mountain and Valley Wool Association, where I have won 3 blue ribbons as well as 2nd and 3rd prizes for my one-of-a-kind hand spun and hand knit...
