The Historical Society serving Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown The Society was founded in 1889. Come visit, our headquarters, the 1848 Jacob Odell House Museum in Tarrytown, NY.

The Historical Society, Inc., a private not-for-profit organization founded in 1889, is dedicated to the study and appreciation of all aspects of the history of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, through educational programs, research, archeological projects, preservation advocacy and the collection and preservation of fine arts, decorative arts, archeological objects, printed and manuscript materials a

Members of the Historical Society are invited to submit a photo of their pet(s) to be displayed in our museum for our upcoming exhibit Pets of the Past and Present.

If you’d like to participate you can email your pet photograph(s) to [email protected], DM us your photographs on social media or drop them off to our headquarters at 1 Grove Street in Tarrytown during our museum hours (Thursday and Saturdays 2:30-4:30pm).

With your submissions, please include your name, pet’s name and a brief caption for your image.

We spent last week putting away the winter exhibit and are gearing up for something fresh and new this spring! We are so excited to announce our upcoming Pets of the Past and Present exhibit focusing on prominent pets of our past and YOUR pets of the present!

Members of the Historical Society are invited to submit a photo of their pet(s) to be displayed in our museum for this upcoming exhibit!

The spring exhibit will be up for a month and have an opening ceremony on Saturday March 28th 1-4pm. We will even have cats available for adoption from the “All Cats’ Lives Matter” rescue group on the lawn! We hope you can attend.
