Michael Reafsnyder’s first solo exhibition in Telluride is on view until February 27. Layers of acrylic paint are manipulated with a plastic blade (never a brush). Each painting is completed in one sitting, a decision that, as the artist explains, “keeps the painting from looking like a battlefield.”

Kristin Beinner James extrudes paint and wax through the back of stretched picture plane. She uses various tools and speeds of application to render an indexical topography of paint on the front of the work. In this brilliant blue example, oil and wax have been pushed through copper mesh. See it now at the Telluride Gallery!
