Telluride Historical Museum Located at the top of N. Fir, we preserve and share Telluride’s history through engaging exhibits and programming.

The Telluride Historical Museum offers far more than artifacts under glass. Aside from a visit to our Museum, join Telluride locals for one of our Fireside Chats, take a Telluride Afoot audio walking tour, read Harriet Backus' Tomboy Bride or take a hike into the high country in celebration of our rich history.

Join us for Halloween on the Hill this year! Trick or treat your way up Fir street to the museum and join us for the Telluride Ghost Hunt. We hope to see you and your families this Halloween!

Halloween is just around the corner and we invite you to celebrate with THM at our annual Halloween on the Hill! Trick or Treat your way up North Fir Street starting at 5:00 p.m. and end at the Museum to join us for festive games, including a Ghost Hunt!

Join the Telluride Historical Museum and Ah Haa School for the Arts for the Telluride Ghost Hunt! Beginning at 6:30pm on Halloween night, bring your flashlights and search for one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic ghosts hidden around the outside of the Museum and along the public areas of North Fir Street. Anything that you find, you can keep, but we ask to just take one per person so there are plenty to go around! It is free to participate and open to young and old.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to help hand out candy and lead games at the museum. Message us or email [email protected] if you’re interested!

Need a fun rainy day activity on this gloomy Saturday? Get into the Halloween spirit with this special collaboration between Ah Haa School for the Arts and the Telluride Historical Museum! In this hands-on workshop, participants will glaze two small ghost sculptures. Each person will decorate one to keep and one to contribute to the Museum’s “Telluride Ghost Hunt.” Drop in anytime between 1 and 2:30 PM to decorate your ghosts on Saturday, October 10th, 1-3PM or Friday, October 16th, 1-3PM. On Halloween night, visitors can explore around the Museum and Fir St. in search of hidden ghosts to take home.

This class is free and open to all ages. Kids under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and all kids must have a parent or guardian present to sign Ah Haa’s general liability waiver to participate. Registration is not required.

Were you or a family member born in the Telluride Historical Museum? We invite you to join us on October 11th starting at 10AM, for a “museum babies” reunion. We hope to hear stories of you, your family, and your connection to the Telluride community. If someone in your family was born in the museum, but unable to attend, we would love to have family of museum babies as well!

Refreshments will be provided as you mingle with other museum babies and enjoy free admission to the Telluride Historical Museum. We encourage you to bring your families or connect with others to carpool to Telluride. Feel free to bring family photos to pass around, we look forward to seeing you and your families to reminisce!

The seasons are changing and Telluride is glowing! Before we close for the fall off-season at the end of the day on October 24, we wanted to remind you of a few upcoming events:

🎤 Our final Fireside Chat of the season is tonight (Oct 7) at the Madeline in Mountain Village at 6pm. Kirk Drogsvold John Kirk Drogsvold will be discussing his art installation to commemorate Colorado’s 150th anniversary

🏥 Were you or a loved one born in the Museum when it was still a hospital? We’re hosting a “Museum Babies” Reunion this Sunday, October 11 at 10am. Refreshments will be provided and we hope to hear stories of you, your family, and your connection to the Telluride community!

👻Glaze a Ghost, Get a Ghost! Join us and Ah Haa this Saturday, October 10th, 1-3PM & Friday, October 16th, 1-3PM for a hands-on workshop at Ah Haa School for the Arts where participants will glaze two small ghost sculptures.
