🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: John Goldsberry – Evansville Central High School

Some athletes excel in one sport-

John Goldsberry excelled in three.

Known as “Tom” during his playing days, Goldsberry earned ten varsity letters while starring in football, basketball, and track & field at Evansville Central. His athletic versatility was on full display when he set the IHSAA State Finals shot put record with a throw of 53’ 9¾”.

His success continued at Indiana University, where he became a four-year football letterman and helped the Hoosiers capture the 1947 Big Ten Championship.

After college, Goldsberry was selected by the Chicago Cardinals and played professionally before beginning a successful business career.

Now, following in the footsteps of his father, Alonzo Goldsberry, John joins the rare company of being inducted into both the Indiana Football and Indiana Track & Field Hall of Fame.

A remarkable athlete. A remarkable family legacy.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Jon Siau – Evansville North High School

Some coaches measure success in wins-

Jon Siau measured success in the lives he impacted.

Over a remarkable 42-year career at Evansville North High School, Siau coached 45 varsity teams and accumulated more than 1,500 varsity victories. His athletes earned state championships, All-American honors, and countless memories that extended far beyond competition.

What makes Jon’s story even more unique is that he is believed to be the only coach in Indiana history to produce individual state champions in at least three unrelated sports.

A teacher, mentor, coach, artist, and longtime supporter of the Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame, Jon’s influence on Indiana athletics is immeasurable.

We are proud to honor Jon Siau as a member of the 2026 Hall of Fame Class.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Charles Hornbostel – Evansville Central High School

When Charles Hornbostel arrived at Indiana University, few could have imagined the career that was ahead of him.

Known as the “Hustling Hoosier,” Hornbostel became one of the most dominant middle-distance runners of his era. Between 1932 and 1934, he won multiple Big Ten and NCAA championships, set world records in the 800 meters, and earned spots on two United States Olympic teams.

Remarkably, Hornbostel never lost a collegiate 800-meter or 880-yard race during his career at Indiana University.

His success helped establish Indiana as a national power in track & field and inspired generations of Hoosier athletes to follow.

We are proud to welcome Charles Hornbostel into the Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: William “Beef” Richardson – Culver Military Academy

Long before track & field was televised and athletes became household names, William “Beef” Richardson was helping put Indiana on the world stage.

A standout at Culver Military Academy, Richardson excelled in the 440 and 880-yard races before continuing his career at Stanford University, where he helped lead the Cardinal to conference and NCAA success.

In 1924, Richardson won the 800 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials and earned a spot on Team USA at the Paris Olympics, finishing fifth in the world.

Nearly a century later, his accomplishments remain a remarkable chapter in Indiana track & field history.

We are proud to recognize William “Beef” Richardson as a member of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

🏆 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Keith Talley – Indianapolis Northwest High School

Keith Talley was one of the most dominant hurdlers and jumpers to ever come out of Indiana.

At Indianapolis Northwest High School, he finished as state runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles and posted a remarkable 13.84 in the preliminary heats, ranking among the nation’s fastest times. He continued his success at the collegiate level, becoming a multiple national junior college champion before transferring to the University of Alabama.

At Alabama, Keith captured SEC titles and reached the pinnacle of collegiate track & field by winning the NCAA Championship in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.36.

His accomplishments extended to the international stage as a Goodwill Games silver medalist and one of the world’s top-ranked hurdlers.

We are proud to honor Keith Talley as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

⚡ 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Shane Crawford – Winamac High School

One of Indiana’s greatest sprinters, Shane Crawford built a career defined by speed, determination, and success at every level.

A two-time Indiana Indoor State Champion and 2007 IHSAA 100-meter State Champion, Shane held the Indiana indoor 60-meter state record for 16 years. He continued his success at Purdue University, where he became a Big Ten Champion and one of the conference’s premier sprinters.

On the international stage, Shane earned a gold medal as part of Team USA’s 4x100 relay at the Pan American Games and competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

From small-town Indiana to representing the United States, Shane’s accomplishments have left a lasting mark on the sport.

We are proud to honor Shane Crawford as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

🏆 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Sarah Pease – South Central (Elizabeth) High School

From a standout high school career in Southern Indiana to competing on the national and international stage, Sarah Pease has built one of the most impressive resumes in Indiana track & field history.

A 16-time conference champion and state qualifier, Sarah continued her success at Indiana University, becoming a 3-time All-American and Big Ten Champion in the steeplechase.

She set the Indiana record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:40.94, competed in four U.S. Olympic Trials, and proudly represented Team USA in international competition.

Today, she continues to impact the sport as the head coach at Ohio University.

We are proud to honor Sarah Pease as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Walter “Dutch” Thurston – Mishawaka High School

A true giant of Indiana high school athletics.

Walter “Dutch” Thurston dedicated his life to education, coaching, and service. As track coach at Mishawaka High School, he guided his teams to nine sectional championships in ten years and led Mishawaka to a 1946 IHSAA Cross Country co-championship alongside Anderson.

Beyond coaching, Dutch served as a teacher, principal, and respected official, working state finals in three different sports throughout his remarkable career.

His impact on generations of student-athletes and Indiana athletics continues to be felt today.

We are proud to honor Walter “Dutch” Thurston as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.
