The flagship cultural institution of the Bronx, founded in 1971, The Bronx Museum of the Arts focuses on 20th-century and contemporary art, while serving the culturally diverse populations of the Bronx and the greater New York metropolitan area. seum of the Arts maintains a permanent collection of 20th and 21st-century works by artists of African, Asian, and Latin American ancestry. Additionally, the Museum collects works by artists for whom the Bronx has been critical to their artistic practice and development. The Museum's educational offerings spring from these central programs with outreach to children and families as well as adult audiences.

There’s a lot of exciting things happening with ’s teen programs - which offer paid arts internship opportunities for NYC high school students every fall, spring, and summer:

⭐️ ’s Teen Council Spring 2026 Cohort is currently accepting submissions of teen artwork and creative writing for a “zine” (self-published, DIY booklet) to be released this June!

⭐️ The application for our Teen Summer 2026 session opens this Friday, May 22!

⭐️ ’s Teen Council recently participated in Teens Take the Met - an annual free event for teens at !

⭐️ Thanks to the generosity of a Board Member and , Teen Council also recently toured NYC 2026!

With all the buzz around a certain fashion-forward museum gala tomorrow, we’re remembering and feeling very proud of our own fabulous fundraising Gala this past April 🥂✨

The occasion brought 500 guests together at on a gorgeous warm spring evening, which was perfectly complimented by bespoke flower arrangements sponsored by .

Attendees dressed in artistic black tie-attire took in the sunset from the roof deck while sipping cocktails sponsored by , then headed inside for dinner and the awards ceremony celebrating Gala Honorees , Lois Plehn, and .

After dinner and the scintillating live art auction, guests reenergized with delicious espresso martinis sponsored by .coffee, then partied into the early hours of the morning to a set by DJ Düe Champ and friends. Gift bags for departing guests included luxury fragrances by .

The successful event helped raise vital funds supporting ’s commitment to providing free universal access to diverse contemporary art 🌎

‘You Are Not Alone’ focuses on healthcare discrepancies faced by black pregnant people in The Bronx and the physical and mental toll it has on patients.

Bronx native Brittney Russell is a filmmaker and community advocate committed to uplifting stories that shape her hometown. Through documentary storytelling, she centers narratives that explore identity, justice, and lives experience, creating space for voices that have historically been overlooked.

Today - Saturday, April 18 - join artists exhibiting at in ‘The Seventh AIM Biennial: Forms of Connection’ for an Open House featuring a variety of activities including an artist talk at 3PM with , , , and facilitated by co-curator Nell Klugman!

Titled “Tender Monuments,” the conversation will explore overlapping themes and materials in these artist’s practices: Working across glass, wax, organic matter, ceramics, and mass consumer debris, the four artists transform materials to embody memory while acknowledging its fragility. Objects associated with permanence become vulnerable through the process of melting, burning, and breaking, while fleeting experiences such as conversation, digital interaction, seasonal change, and everyday ritual are given physical form.

The discussion centers on material transformation and commemoration: How do artists decide what to preserve, archive, or surrender? What does it mean to make intimate histories public? How does material act as a reliquary or a space of transformation?

By collapsing boundaries between private mourning and collective experience, Brouckaert, Cruz, Lee, and Takeda consider how impermanent materials can bear enduring meaning, and how seemingly stable materials reveal their own instability. Together, they ask how art can memorialize loss without fixing it in place, and how care lies not only in preservation, but in allowing change.
