Got some sad news yesterday…my sweet friend passed away earlier this week. I’m shook. And so sad. Tamee was a friend from way back…and we reconnected over the last 10 or so years as her art evolved. She was so much fun and so talented and the world is kinda empty without her. Her whimsical style brought so much joy to so many. I have been the ecstatic recipient of several pieces by her. This sweet little mouse is the first piece she gave me. I love it so much! I love her so much…sigh. Rest easy, little mama…gonna miss you forever ❤️ surround yourselves with beauty, poodles…and hug the ones you love, k?

Love lifts us up where we belong…or whatever Kim Karnes said…🤩 update comin atcha!

Scott and I got home late last evening after being discharged from the hospital and picking up a bag full of prescriptions at the pharmacy.
We still have a bit of snow (now frozen solid) in our driveway that prevents me from parking right next to our back deck, so Scott had a bit of a trek to get into the house. He handled it well, but it was difficult. Thankfully, by the time he needs to get in and out of the car again, that should all be melted.

We worked through a hot shower, maneuvered around bedroom furniture an inch at a time, unpacked bags and bags of medical supplies, and finally sat down with a bowl of the best chicken tortilla soup we’ve ever eaten, thanks to our dear friends Elizabeth and Hilary.

It seems like we process through the grief cycle a few times a day around here and the Word of the Day has repeatedly been GRACE. Grace for one another and for ourselves, grace for this journey, and the Saving Grace that gave us the opportunity to make a comeback from this.
For every aching step, God has provided the support we needed at that moment.
Many times, that’s come in the form of friends and family who’ve absolutely blown us away with kindness and love. 🩷

An update from Melissa! Day 7
Scott met with his surgeon today to do a final wound vac change in the hospital. The goal was to do it without morphine in preparation for the task to happen at home, and he did it, though it wasn’t easy.

Towards afternoon, we began the discharge process and by 4pm, we were in the parking lot loading up…just in time for Scott and his nurse to notice a suspicious swelling in his thigh.

Out of caution, we wheeled right back into the hospital for an ultrasound, fully expecting a second blood clot, but we were thrilled to hear that not only was there no second clot, but the first clot found days ago had completely resolved! 🎉

I’m happy to report that Scott was discharged and we’re now home and happy to be going to sleep in our own bed! We’re looking forward to a quiet weekend of adjusting to our new normal.

The long, difficult road to recovery has begun.🩷
