Happy 5/29 Day Everyone!

We are all very excited to have this engine back in service later this year. As is the case, with railroad equipment restorations, they require significant amount of time, effort, and funding.

We are still short of our fundraising goals to push this engine over the finish line.

We kindly ask that you consider donating to the restoration so we can all share in the magic of her pulling our excursion trains again. Your donation will go toward the new radiator sections, wheels, and a quality new paint job! Come September, we expect 529 to look as good as she did the day she rolled out of the ALCo plant.

We teased it a couple days ago... but here it is! We are very pleased to present our Semiquincentennial Unit - NAUG 2798!

Over the last month our staff and volunteers removed the old paint from our ex-P&W, nee-Conrail U23B and applied a special commemorative paint scheme in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

Our staff drew inspiration from a similar scheme used by the Delaware & Hudson when they painted a U23B into a special bicentennial paint scheme in 1976.

The locomotive sports five stars on the side of it's cab as a nod to Connecticut being the fifth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

During the process of removing the paint, one of our mischievous employees scrawled "Spirit of Turbo" in sharpie on the side of the locomotive. This got us thinking, and we made a small modification to the paint scheme to include a silhouette of our dearly departed Turbo- The Naugatuck Railroad Shop Cat.

The locomotive enters regular service tomorrow May 7th on our freight train, and is also scheduled to pull both the Torrington Express and the Tequila Train this Saturday May 9th!
