Employee Spotlight: Alex Schreiner
The Thomasville Public Library would like to take a moment to highlight our exceptional employees and warmly welcome another staff member. Our team strives every day to provide patrons with a friendly and welcoming environment when they visit the library. We have a staff member returning for the summer, so we would like to reintroduce you to our library aide, Alex Schreiner.
Alex Schreiner is a native of Thomasville and a graduate of the Thomasville High School Class of 2025. Before heading off to Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS, he spent two years working at the library. The library was his very first job, and it taught him some valuable customer service skills. “I learned how to work with the public,” added Schreiner. At MSU, he’s pursuing his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Schreiner has a passion for music and plays the trombone with The Famous Maroon Band at MSU. Mastering his sheet music while perfecting the timing and rhythm for his performances has been a source of happiness for him in his first year of college. “I enjoy it because the music sounds good,” he added. Schreiner has to do a lot of reading for his college coursework, but he still finds time to read for fun. Recently, he read the short story titled "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison. “I like it mostly because of the author’s audiobook, in which he voices the villain perfectly,” Schreiner mentioned. One of his favorite quotes states: ‘However ruined this world has become, however mired in torment and despair, life endures, births continue. There is beauty in that, is there not?’ He said, “This quote inspires me to persevere no matter the hardships.”
The Thomasville Public Library is happy to have Schreiner back this summer. He is always willing to help anyone who needs it, and we truly value that quality. His hard work, along with that of the entire staff, helps make the library a wonderful place for everyone.
