Mahogany Doors - Day 3: Final Beauty Restored!

The moment we've all been waiting for!

After Monday’s testing for the optimal remover for these beautiful mahogany doors and Wednesday's full application, today we're revealing the stunning results of this restoration project.

After just 30 minutes of dwell time, simple scrapers were used to remove the bulk of the softened coatings. A light water spray and scrubbing with scouring pads removed any residual finish, revealing the true character of the wood beneath.

Once dry, the original rich, warm tones of the mahogany emerged revealing the grain patterns and natural beauty that had been concealed for years under those gray-brown coatings.

The doors are now ready for either a clear protective finish or whatever treatment the homeowners choose to preserve the wood for years to come.

Mahogany Doors - Day 2: Selecting the Right Solution

Following up on Monday's post about our homeowners' mahogany door restoration project...

The results from the Dumond Paint Removal Test Kit were conclusive: both Smart Strip Advanced and Smart Strip Pro effectively removed the coatings down to the mahogany wood. The homeowners selected Smart Strip Advanced Paint Remover for the full project after consulting with sales representative Rylee Gardiner, based on its formula containing no caustic chemicals of any kind.

The restoration process began with a simple brush application of Smart Strip Advanced across the door surfaces. Dumond Laminated Paper was then carefully applied over the remover to prevent premature drying and enhance the products effectiveness.
