But what if it was awakening?

What if the forbidden fruit wasn’t the beginning of sin… but the beginning of knowing?

The knowledge of pleasure and pain.
Light and darkness.
Desire and consequence.
Good and evil.

Before the bite, there was innocence.
After it, there was consciousness.

Maybe the punishment was never eating the fruit. Maybe it was discovering that the voice telling you not to eat it wasn’t the only voice worth listening to.

Because once you taste forbidden knowledge, the garden becomes a cage. And the worst part? You may never know whether you were cast out… or finally set free.

My sister lost her mind for a short while. I painted what I felt her energy was at that time.

She has the biggest heart of anyone I know — that’s why it’s caged in this piece, still beating, still giving, even when everything around her went dark. The moon jellyfish above her is pulling her somewhere she couldn’t control. The kingfisher on her hand is the part of her that stayed soft and sweet through all of it.

Our mental health system failed her. This piece exists because she survived and thrived through it all anyway.❤️

But something crazier happened. I stopped waiting to be found. And I am growing into what I used to be looking for.

That brown tree? That’s my rooted, grounded, masculine. That green blue tree? That’s my flowing, intuitive, feminine.

For years I thought twin flame meant finding my other half. It actually meant remembering I AM the whole forest.

So I painted “Interwined” 🤍
Not as lovers finding each other.
As two parts of MYSELF finally kissing.

After my father’s death,
in many ways I feel closer to him than ever.
