The Tree Across the Street from My Job
The tree stands at the edge of the street like a quiet guardian, its dark canopy gathered into a dense, breathing mass of green. Even in this stylized rendering, you can feel its weight—how it absorbs light, how it holds the day inside its branches. The buildings behind it fade into suggestion, softened by distance and motion, as if the world around the tree is always shifting while the tree remains steady.

There’s a kind of urban stillness here: the road in the foreground, the clipped grass, the pale sky brushed with quick strokes of blue. Yet the tree refuses to be background. It rises with a presence that feels almost human—rooted, watchful, carrying the texture of countless days you’ve passed beneath its shadow.

Waiting for Peace

Waiting for Peace captures a quiet moment of collective anticipation. A family stands among neighbors on a sun‑washed street, each person holding flowers that glow warm and orange like the robes. That color becomes the emotional anchor of this piece—soft, hopeful, and gently radiant against the calm of the morning.

I was drawn to the stillness of this image, before the monks arrive, the way a community can gather quietly, simply sharing breath and intention. They figures are still ; they’re in a kind of listening posture, offering their presence as much as their flowers. In that pause, the street feels transformed—less like a place of passage and more like a threshold.

This painting isn’t about the procession itself. It’s about the moment just before it, when peace is something we prepare and hope for with our hands, our attention, and our willingness to stand together. The family’s quiet devotion, the warmth of the petals, and the gentle hush of the crowd all hold that truth.

No acknowledgement of these survivors. She could have said, I’m sorry for what you have gone through. She could have said I’m sorry all of your personal information was revealed. But no. Nothing.
