✈️ Restoration Hangar Update – Canberra WJ574 ✈️

Our English Electric Canberra TT.18, WJ574, has been moved outside of the restoration hangar to begin the next phase of her recovery.

Following the damage sustained during Hurricane Milton, our volunteers are now focusing on tidying her up and addressing the remaining repairs needed to return her to the condition she deserves. This work includes repairing storm-related damage, correcting cosmetic issues, and ensuring she continues to stand proudly as one of the most unique aircraft in the collection.

WJ574 has an incredible history, having served with the Royal Air Force and later participating in Project Robin, photographing Soviet missile tests during the Cold War. Preserving aircraft like her ensures these stories continue to be told for future generations.

Every hour of volunteer effort and every donation helps move this project forward. If you would like to support the restoration of Canberra WJ574, please consider making a contribution.

Thank you to our restoration volunteers for their continued dedication to preserving aviation history.

Today at Valiant Air Command, Inc., the team has been hard at work rearranging half of the main hangar as we prepare for an exciting new acquisition arriving this July.

As part of the move, our cockpit simulators are being relocated into a more organized and dedicated area to help improve the visitor experience and make the exhibit flow even better for our guests.

The reshuffle also gave us the rare opportunity to bring some of our less frequently moved exhibits outside for a little fresh air — including our beautiful Grumman FM-1 Wildcat, who took the chance to stretch her wings in the Florida sunshine.

A huge thank you goes out to our dedicated aircraft movement volunteers for all of their hard work today. Moving and repositioning historic aircraft is no small task, and their time, effort, and attention to detail help keep the museum evolving and improving for our visitors.

Big changes are underway behind the scenes, and we cannot wait to share more with everyone as we continue preparing for what is shaping up to be an exciting summer at the museum.
