Every so often we come across B&M plans in the vast donation of drawings from CSX. Usually they are post Guilford plans of the Western Route south of Rigby.

In this case, we have a linen drawn a year after the valuation survey of the Terminal Division in Boston, Cambridge, & Somerville. The rail infrastructure in the area was extensive.

This, as well as all other B&M plans we come across will be donated to The Boston & Maine Railroad Historical Society

We may have just found our longest plan.

This drawings is of the Portland & Rumford Falls Railway from Rumford Junction to Rumford. With it being approximately 47 miles between the two, and the plan being 400’ to an inch, it makes the plan over 50’ long.

Unfortunately with our current scanner, this is much too long to digitize. It will be added to our collection of oversized drawings while we explore alternative methods of capturing it.

It has come to our attention that the archive search was not functioning for those accessing the archive. We had to change the permissions of the Drive to require users to request access. This will have the folder show up in your "Shared with me" folder. To search it, make sure you select "Anywhere in Drive" when searching as shown in the screenshot.

It is not ideal, but is a limitation of Google Drive. We will explore alternatives until we are able to fund an online database.

We are utilizing Patreon for our membership. There are three tiers to choose from. $5/month, $10/month, and $50/month. Select the level under "see membership options".

Currently, there is no difference between the tiers. In the future, we will offer more varied content to higher tiers, but with our current volunteers, only a newsletter can be offered.

Over 1,900 new plans have been digitized and are being uploaded to our temporary Google Drive. This brings our total to nearly 4,200 assessed and digitized items.

We are also working on our membership via Patreon and our first newsletter. Stay tuned for that announcement in the next few weeks

Index is located in the "Index" sub folder. Reminder that this is temporary until we can raise enough funds to have a database created.

Today we received a donation of 6 notebooks used during the valuation survey.

These were with the survey crew out in the field and contain all the dimensions and notes needed to draw the valuation plans. There would have been dozens of these books, but it appears only 6 survived the move from the general offices to Rigby.

We would like to thank Bob Fuller for saving these books and donating them to us.
