Many thanks to the community and participants that turned out for the Deale Historical Society's 19th Annual Memorial Day Remembrance yesterday. A full house on such a dreary day! The Memorial Day Remembrance will be held tomorrow at 10am regardless of weather. There will be limited seating and covered standing areas available for viewing the ceremony, umbrellas are welcome. Our service personnel did not have an option to cancel or move inside while on duty and defending this country. The laying of the wreath and full ceremony to honor them will go on - rain or shine.

Join the Deale Area Historical Society for the 19th Annual Memorial Day Remembrance, May 25, 10am. This one-hour ceremony is held at the Deale War Memorial located at the American Flag in the Cedar Grove Methodist Church parking lot - the corner of Masons Beach Road and the Deale-Churchton Road. This year we will honor the many veterans who have lost their lives in this country's 250-year history. The event starts promptly at 10am, rain or shine. Please join us at this annual tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The Deale Museum is open Sundays, May - October, 1-4pm or by appointment. You are welcome to contact us through our webpage, www.DAHS.us to request special tours for family or small groups anytime of year. Docents will be happy to guide you through the artifacts and displays in the Deale Museum as well as touring you through the various historic buildings. The Museum is located in the old Nutwell School building in the Historic Village at Herrington Harbour North in Tracy's Landing, Maryland.

As part of the many events offered in celebration of Maryland Day and in partnership with Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area, DAHS will present "Continuity and Change in Early Maryland To***co Barns". MONDAY, MAY 12, 6PM -- Join the Deale Area Historical Society in presenting local author and historian, Carol McCabe Booker, with highlights of her books: The Waterman’s Widow, The Farmer’s Wife and Cove Point on the Chesapeake
The Farmer's Wife (2024) is the third in author Carol Booker's non-fiction series exploring historic events in 19th and early 20th century Southern Maryland. It follows best-selling The Waterman's Widow (2023) and Cove Point on the Chesapeake (2021). Books will be available for sale and autograph. Cash or check only please.
