As we’re out and about this weekend, let’s pause to remember the intention of the holiday.

“Remembering with gratitude the sacrifice of those who served.”

"A rare window into the past." Spring Park Inn, tucked just off the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest, is one of the Upstate's last remaining examples of 19th-century architecture and it's open to visitors.

Guided tours Saturdays; free exhibits Fridays and Saturdays

Just off the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest is Spring Park Inn, a historic structure built in the 1820s, converted into an inn in 1852.

We’re deeply saddened to announce the passing of Board Member Richard Sawyer last night.

Richard worked tirelessly at the Historical Society creating exhibits for our museum and sharing his passion for all things Greenville County.

Richard’s vast knowledge of Greenville County Native American history allowed him to deliver public programs, complete with artifacts he collected over the years. Visitors to the History Museum of Travelers Rest can view his Native American display.

His contributions can also be seen at the Upcountry History Museum, where his name is proudly shown on many of the exhibits and photographs.

Richard bravely served our country in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Richard served his church, Reedy River Baptist, videoing the services until he could no longer attend.

He will be missed dearly. May his memory be a blessing.
