More Than a Train… It’s a Memory
What a wonderful day at the Cheshire Railroad Depot!
We checked another project off the list—the back room is painted, floor and all! Our volunteers got so much accomplished, we welcomed quite a few visitors, and of course, Hobo collected his fair share of love and belly rubs.
But the best part of the day wasn’t the paint or the projects.
It was the stories.
We had visitors share memories of riding BUDD RDCs to work in Boston and along the North Shore. As they talked, you could almost see those days come back to life.
That’s the incredible thing about our girl, #6154.
To some, she may be an old stainless-steel railcar sitting on a short stretch of track in Troy, New Hampshire. But to others, she brings back morning commutes, familiar stations, people they once traveled with, and a time in their lives they haven’t thought about in years.
She doesn’t just preserve railroad history.
She brings memories home. ❤️
And every time someone walks up her stairs and says, “I remember riding these…” we’re reminded all over again why bringing #6154 to Troy was worth every bit of work.
We absolutely love our Depot days—the projects, the progress, the laughter, Hobo’s belly rubs…but most of all, the people and the stories they bring with them.
Another pretty special day at the Depot.
