Presidio San Agustín del Tucson The city opened the gates to this recreated Spanish Fort and Museum in 2007. long on each side. The last standing segment of the wall was torn down in 1918.

The Tucson Presidio was established in August of 1775 by Spanish Army Colonel Hugo O'Conor. The soldiers, or soldados, and their families moved north from Tubac sometime during the Fall of 1776. The fort was enclosed with a wood palisade until 1783 when, after a large Apache assault, it was surrounded it in an 8-12 foot high adobe wall that was about 700 ft. The Presidio remained in use until the Americans entered Tucson in March of 1856, and was dismantled quickly thereafter. In the years since efforts were made to locate and mark the walls. Archaeological excavations at the Presidio site were completed in February of 2006. Construction includes the 20 foot tall adobe tower, or the torreon, and the 10 foot high adobe walls. This reconstruction incorporates a renovated adobe triplex on Meyer St. as a museum and gift shop. On the south side of the Presidio corner is a large mural wall that provides a "view" into the remainder of the 11-acre Presidio. The Presidio San Agustin del Tucson has living history festivals where visitors can sample Spanish Colonial food, listen to stories of old Tucson, learn period crafts, see the cannon fired and watch the soldiers drill!

Guess who’s back? 🍻

The Presidio Pale Ale is returning for year two, and this time we brought the whole neighborhood.

We spent brew day at our friends’ place, Barrio Brewing Company, alongside some of Tucson’s best breweries. Lots of laughs, a few good pours, and a whole lot of hometown pride in one room.

Big thanks to everyone who showed up to make this happen:
🍺 Sacred Hand Beer
🍺 Harbottle Brewing Co.
🍺 Dragoon Brewing Co.
🍺 MotoSonora Brewing Company
🍺 Corbett Brewing

The b**r is brewed and resting now, and it’ll be pouring around town this October 🗓️ Even better, a portion of every sale comes back to the museum to help us keep sharing Tucson’s story.

So keep an eye out, grab a pint when it lands, and bring a friend.

Here’s to good b**r, great neighbors, and 250+ years of Tucson history. 🌵

Mark your calendars — Saturday night we’re throwing one of our favorite parties of the year.

On September 16, 1810, Mexico started its fight for independence from Spain, and eleven years later Tucson became part of that new nation. It’s a piece of our city’s story, and we love celebrating it with the whole neighborhood.

🩰 6:00–6:45pm — Ballet Folklórico by Danzacultura Mexicana🎺 7:00–7:45pm — Mariachi by Los Changuitos Feos
🇲🇽 7:45pm — Mexican National Anthem & El Grito, presented by the Consulate of Mexico
📖 8:00pm — The History of El Grito, a lecture by Dr. Luis Coronado Guel

Grab a drink from Brandylion, a churro from Churros Inzunza and enjoy a night of celebration— it’s free, thanks to John Bird’s sponsorship.

Bring the family, bring your neighbors, come make some noise with us.
