We bring families, educators, and community partners together through hands-on exhibits, science camps, birthday parties, and engaging programs! The Hands-On Science Center is a regional STEM learning center located in Tullahoma, Tennessee, dedicated to inspiring curiosity and fostering a deeper understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our mission is to provide a regiona

l learning center to stimulate an interest in, understanding and appreciation of STEM education, particularly among children in their formative years, their parents and their teachers. Each year, we serve more than 15,000 visitors through interactive exhibits, science camps, homeschool programs, family science nights, field trips, robotics classes, and community partnerships. From preschool sensory exploration to advanced STEM camps, from unplugged coding challenges to soil science and engineering design, our programs are built to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on discovery. We work alongside educators, local businesses, conservation leaders, and community partners to create meaningful learning experiences that connect science to everyday life. Whether it’s building, planting, coding, experimenting, or exploring, we strive to make STEM approachable and exciting for families across our region. At the Hands-On Science Center, curiosity isn’t just encouraged, it’s celebrated.

Geology ROCKS! 🪨⛏️

Our campers had an incredible time exploring the world of geology with Zoey Ward from the Coffee County Soil and Water Conservation District! She taught us about the different types of rocks, how they form, and why studying geology helps us better understand the Earth around us.

After her presentation, Zoey demonstrated how to crack open a geode, and a few of our campers even got the chance to break one open themselves! She wrapped up the day by leading a fun, hands-on activity where campers created their own DIY fossils to take home.

Thank you, Zoey, for sharing your knowledge and making geology such an exciting adventure!

Our campers had a fantastic time exploring the world of chemistry with Motlow professor Dr. Adam Van Wart! Using hands-on molecular models, Dr. Van Wart helped campers learn how molecules are built and interact. The excitement continued with an impressive elephant toothpaste demonstration that showcased chemistry in action! 🧪✨

Our Homeschool Science Day was a success! A huge thank you to Jessie Kinsey from Tullahoma City Schools CTE, Jamie Nunley from Advanced Manufacturing–Nissan Centers of Excellence, and Matthew Bird, Machinist from Beyond New Horizons, for sharing their knowledge and insights about careers in manufacturing and engineering.

Students also took part in a hands-on assembly line challenge, where they worked together to build cheese-and-cracker snacks in a fast-paced production line. This engaging activity gave homeschoolers a fun, interactive look at how real-world assembly lines operate while highlighting the importance of teamwork, efficiency, and problem-solving—and it was yummy, too!
