A huge thank you to Foundations Landscape and Southwood Landscape and Garden Center for helping beautify the grounds of the Tulsa Fire Museum just in time for this Saturday’s cookout fundraiser and open house!

These crews worked incredibly hard all day long transforming our garden beds and helping bring new life and color to the historic Fire Alarm Building grounds.

As we continue preparing the Museum to be visitor-ready, partnerships like these make a tremendous difference. We’re grateful for businesses that believe in preserving Tulsa’s fire history and helping us present this historic landmark in a way the community can be proud of.

Be sure to come out this Saturday, enjoy the cookout fundraiser, explore the museum, and see the beautiful improvements in person. Thank you again to Foundations Landscape and Southwood Nursery for your support and hard work!

We’re honored to see the historic Tulsa Fire Alarm Building featured by the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture.

Once the communications hub for every fire emergency in Tulsa, this 1931 Art Deco landmark continues telling the story of Tulsa’s fire service through the work of the Tulsa Fire Museum.

If you’ve never stepped inside the building, this is a great opportunity to experience a unique piece of Tulsa history.

A status update from the Tulsa Fire Museum

Over the past several months, a tremendous amount of work has been happening behind the scenes at the Tulsa Fire Museum as we continue preparing the Museum for its next chapter.

Our team has been focused on creating an “always visitor-ready” environment while strengthening the long-term preservation of Tulsa’s fire history. This work has included the development of new front office spaces, administrative areas, artifact intake and processing rooms, dedicated artifact display areas, and the transformation of our basement into organized archival storage for the preservation of Tulsa Fire Department history.

As we continue working alongside Exhibit Concepts, Inc. on our interpretive planning process, we have taken this opportunity to reorganize and improve how we care for the collection entrusted to us. From humidity and UV management to improved storage methods, cataloging systems, and preservation practices, every step has been focused on ensuring these artifacts are protected for future generations. We want to be good stewards of Tulsa’s fire history and build a museum our community can be proud of.

Another important step forward has been the appointment of a dedicated individual to oversee the Museum’s daily operations and organizational systems. This creates clearer direction and accountability as we continue growing and preparing for the future.

Over the next several months, our focus will shift toward improving the presentation of the historic Fire Alarm Building itself, including landscaping and exterior lighting improvements. Once the interpretive plan is finalized, we will begin the exciting process of developing exhibits and experiences that tell the story of Tulsa’s firefighting history in a meaningful and engaging way.

There is still a great deal of work ahead, but we are incredibly grateful for the growing support, encouragement, donations, and belief in this mission. As the Museum continues to grow, so do the needs required to support that growth. If you would like to support the preservation of Tulsa’s firefighting history and help us prepare for the next phase of the Museum, we would be deeply grateful for your support.
