Our Story

Caleb and Ruth O’Connor, co-owners of O’Connor Art Studios, LLC., moved to Tuscaloosa in 2009 to create the 16 large-scale murals in the Tuscaloosa Federal Courthouse and ended up staying! Their vision was to help the visual arts grow in Tuscaloosa, more specifically in education and in public art works. Today, Caleb has grown the studio with multiple sculpture and painting projects while Ruth is getting ready to expand her art education efforts beyond the space. As a working studio, their hours vary, so please contact them directly for more info or if you’d like to plan a visit. Also please note that they are NOT a gallery, but since they do have walls and a great downtown space, you might get to experience a bit of a “gallery experience” some months, specially when hosting special events such as featured out-of-town artists. Offering art education and advancement courses, special events and a chance to see Caleb at work, they are truly a service to the community. In the visual arts, they concentrate on drawing, painting and sculpture.
