We recently had the pleasure of hosting researchers from Université de Montréal at the Arboretum during a regional field visit focused on hickory species and associated insect interactions.

Guillaume Saint-Jacques and Dr. Colin Favret spent time exploring the Arboretum’s collections and natural areas while documenting several of our hickory species as part of their ongoing research. During their visit, they examined a variety of interesting gall formations and discussed the complex ecological relationships occurring within these trees.

The Boone County Arboretum is always proud to support research, education, and conservation efforts, and we appreciate the opportunity to assist visiting scientists and researchers in the field.

We look forward to learning more about their findings as their work continues!

Want better flower beds and containers this summer?

Join us at the Arboretum for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to design vibrant, long-lasting plantings—and help create our summer displays.

We’ll cover how to combine plants for color, texture, and structure, then head into the gardens to put those ideas into practice.

9:00 to 10:00 AM

Free program, but registration is required.

This doesn’t happen every year… and it doesn’t last long.

Yucca treculiana is in full bloom at the Arboretum right now, sending up massive clusters of creamy white flowers above its dramatic, spiky foliage. This is a species rarely seen in the eastern U.S., and moments like this are easy to miss if you wait too long.

If you’re planning a visit, now is the time.

A quick reminder to all Arboretum visitors and event guests:

Please do not use confetti, glitter, or similar materials anywhere on Arboretum grounds. These items create litter that is extremely difficult to remove and can impact the beauty of the Arboretum for other visitors.

If you are hosting a gathering or event, please plan to leave our space as you found it and ensure all materials are fully cleaned up before you leave.

We appreciate your help in caring for this shared public space.
