Today we are checking out some zoomed in shots of a postcard of Concord, Kentucky. These particular shots show right as you enter the area. You can see some men hard at work cutting up some lumber. There are very few old maps that record the area of Concord but I was able to find this one that was published in 1877.

Today we are covering just one WW1 soldier Floyd Ruark. He entered into service around October 1917. He was a constant writer sending many letters back home to family. His time in the military brought both happiness and sadness as in April 1918 he was sent home on a furlough due to the terrible murder of his father Tom. Once home he snuck off with his sweetheart Anna Collins and got married. Soon he was back over seas where he was wounded on October 25th, 1918. He was finally mustered out of service in mid 1919 returning back to Lewis County.
