The Wilbarger County Historical Museum is by no means closed. Funding was cut from the city's tourism board. For the last 2 years I've operated the museum, but I can't do it without help. The funding was coming from HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax), this extra tax from Hotel/Motel is to promote tourism and historical preservation. It does not come from local tax payers. This is the largest collection of Wilbarger County history and should be a staple of this community. For the last 10 years it has been a monument to our historical preservation for people to come see. This is OUR history! In my opinion, it should be saved at all cost!
