Object 16 Celebrating Our Fifty Years
Map of 1866 ( reproduction)
This early Map of Vestal was reprinted by the Vestal Historical Society. This map shows the canal before the railroad came through the North side of town. It indicates early settlers and farm land rather than streets. Mersereau, DuBois, Rounds, Eldredge, Pierce, LaGrange, Knight to name a few… you might recognize these as street and road names in our town!

More Railfest fun- September 4-6 Steamtown National Park open from 9-5 pm, admission is always free!

We rode a train (12.00), heard a great historic lecture on the D & H Gravity Railroad from Carbondale to Honesdale, listened to live bands, spoke to great vendors and visited with historical societies from all over, we packed a picnic lunch and had a great experience for only 12.00! I highly recommend this railroad experience!
