Over at Sunnyside Cemetery on Saturday, historian Veldean Myers will bring the dead to life with stories of our pioneers. And, we'll have gold panning going on right outside our door. The secrets of Victor's Sunnyside Cemetery are set to be revealed during our historic walking tour this Saturday. Join historian Alicia Petri Herrington at 10 am for a guided tour among the tombstones. Enjoy the incredible views while hearing stories of the pioneers who are buried here that include folks from all walks of life, a few mysterious deaths, and funeral etiquette of the 1890s and early 1900s.

The tour is about an hour on dirt, gravel, and grassy pathways, so be sure to wear durable shoes and don't forget to bring a hat and sunscreen. The Victor Lowell Thomas Museum invites visitors of all ages to experience the excitement of Colorado’s gold rush history with hands-on gold panning adventures this summer in the heart of historic Victor.
Participants will learn the basics of traditional gold panning techniques just like the miners and prospectors who lived through the boomtown days that shaped the legendary Cripple Creek & Victor Mining District. Guided demonstrations make the activity fun and accessible for beginners, families, and history enthusiasts alike.
Panning is open 10-4 daily during the summer, weather allowing.
