Tours of the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine start up again tomorrow, September 3rd, and through the weekend. We remain very grateful that the mine works with us for these excursions, and also grateful for the grants we receive so we can continue to restore and preserve our history! Tours are at 10 am and 1 pm. Also be sure to book a tour of Spirits of Sunnyside for this Saturday at 10 am; you can do both tours in one day. Sharing this epic image from the Cripple Creek District Museum and Information Center - Colorado. Although panning for gold has never quite gone away, early miners soon discovered that most of our precious minerals up here are of the "hard rock" variety, meaning they must be dug or blasted out of hard rock. Today folks still pan for gold now and then, but the best way to learn how is by visiting us here at the museum and doing it yourself! We will show you how. The museum is open 10 am to 5 pm.

You can also learn more about hard rock mining and its advancement by taking a tour of today's Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine. This informative shuttle tour takes you to places in the mine that are not generally open to the public. The tours leave from our museum each Thursday through Sunday until Oct. 31.
