A big thank you to the sponsors of the 70th annual Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show presented by Atlantic Union Bank!

We’re a contemporary art museum powered by a small, yet mighty team, and every year we take our work beyond our walls and onto the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Making that happen takes a community of supporters who believe the arts are worth investing in.

As a nonprofit, your support goes a long way. We’re incredibly grateful to the businesses and organizations who help make the Boardwalk Art Show possible and believe in the value of bringing artists and our community together.

Thank you for investing in the arts and being part of this tradition with us.

THANK YOU!

⬆️ Going up? Step inside “Know Self”, a new drawing by artist Shantell Martin.

Now wrapping the elevator at Virginia MOCA, Martin’s site-specific artwork turns an everyday ride into an opportunity to look closer, follow the lines, and discover something unexpected.

“Elevators have long fascinated me. They are spaces between: between where we’ve come from and where we’re going. For a brief moment, we share a small room with strangers, or find ourselves alone, suspended between destinations”—Shantell Martin

We’re excited to have Martin’s work back at Virginia MOCA after featuring her in Seamless: Art and Design, one of the inaugural exhibitions in our new building this spring.

Meet Made in VA Biennial exhibiting artist Justin White at the 70th Annual Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show!

White’s oil painting Skylight, currently on view at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, depicts his son captivated by the beauty of a bubble in the sunlight. This weekend, White brings that sense of wonder to the Boardwalk, painting live in the Virginia MOCA alongside bubble machines and a bubble-art activity where you can create your own bubbly artwork to take home with you.
