I have been thinking of this project for awhile. I like to go to visit Fiber Fest and never have something to wear that shows my passion for fiber. So I have decided it is time to start. I have 1 month to complete my Fiber Vest. I have 3 boxes of different types of fiber. Box 1 is wool and fleece from fiber animals. Box 2 is silks. Box 3 is cuttings from weaving projects, ribbons , lace, yarn and threads. I am machine felting the fibers on the vest. Hopefully it will be a wearable garment! I will post pictures as I progress.

My newest tool. An Ashford Espinner 2 , a gift from my husband. We purchased this from The Little Shop of Spinning located in Ft. Wayne. My first project that I plan to spin is several natural colors of shetland wool.

A little vacation to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. A visit to Stoney Mountain Spinnery was on my list. Wow what fun. A Fiber heaven! Of course couldn't come home without some gorgeous fiber to spin and a mug for my souvenir. The fiber is Blue Face Leister which is one of my favorites to spin and Targhee which will be a new spin for me. If ever you visit that area and love yarn , fiber and equipment, be sure to stop . Also a big thank you to my family who patiently waited for me to shop!

Today I would like to share a cuppa tea with all of you. I found this little single serve tea pot at a second hand store and loved the colors. The tea is Vanilla Chai that I got a a tea store in Shipshewanna . The little tea infuser in front was a gift from my mother forty years ago. The yarn is my hand dyed and spun which just by chance matched the colors of the tea pot! So to all my friends and family on a cold winters day , a sip of warm tea and warm wishes to all of you.

Dying wool roving in 4 colors in the microwave. Lay wet roving on plastic wrap, pour on dye, wrap up in jelly roll fashion, place in microwave on high. Unwrap cooled wool, rinse well and hang to dry.

What better thing to do than spin a colorful yarn on a cold winter day! This is some roving I dyed and am spinning a thin single yarn. I was playing with colors and am happy with the results. This roving is called "pencil" roving. It is drawn out thinner and makes spinning go fast as you do not have to draft the fibers as much.
