Here’s a glimpse at one of the many behind-the-scenes projects happening at the Waldo Area Historical Museum. A museum’s inventory is truly the heart of its operation. It helps ensure artifacts are accounted for, easy to locate, and properly documented with important historical information.

Our museum at Waldo City Square is home to hundreds of items, including artifacts, photographs, books, historical clothing, documents, and much more. We are currently working to enter each item into a new digital database and assign it a printed QR code label. 📚

So, the next time you visit and notice a QR code sticker on an item, you’ll know it represents a lot of time, care, and effort to help preserve Waldo’s history for years to come! 💛

The Waldo Area Historical Society has obtained approval from the Waldo City Council to submit plans to the Florida Division of Historical Places for the installation of a historical marker at The Waldo School. This project seeks to underscore the history of the century-old school building and its significance to the community, while educating the community about its long history.

The community can monitor the status of this project by visiting the status page on our website: www.waldohistoricalsociety.org/historical-marker.
