In search of words…Rest in peace my friend…

my friend and coworker Brian Caraway passed away a week ago, peacefully in his sleep.

We were the same age, became Dads around the same time, shared a desk and work life for 6+ years…built many things, put up many art shows, shared many good times…

The last time I saw him, he and his family kindly gave me a ride to bart from his art show in Oakland, a simple time now a treasured memory—he was alive and well, we were all listening to music & laughing and I felt a part of his family ❤️

Gone too soon is cliche but true and I hope that:
the special light that he shared with the world was what greeted him as he transitioned from this earthly plane—the sacred geometry of his paintings opening before him…welcoming him…

Rare coffee experiences are a joy when found—here with in San Francisco.

I’m all for grab and go coffee but slowing down and truly enjoying a wonderful coffee service is a real treat.

This pairing (or Komaset) is a 1 & 1 espresso presentation (1 espresso and 1 sm latte) with a caramelized leek puff pastry (I forgot the name:))

The coffee is a natural process (72hr anaerobic) Ethiopian coffee roasted by .coffee in Paris.

The espresso was a surprisingly clean tasting, bright and fruit forward jammy lil treat—sweet, citrusy, complex and syrupy.

As a latte, some the bright fruit/floral flavors were more muted, but what was pronounced was the velvety sweetness—like fluffy strawberry ice cream.

The pastry was light, sweet and savory, and was a nice contrast to the coffee drinks. And what all around presentation!

A visit to BIGFACE COFFEE Popup shop in San Francisco! Super clean, super modern and well designed—insane for a “popup”! Delicious coffee—custom blends c/o ONYX coffee blending done right!

BIGFACE is basketball star Jimmy Butler’s coffee/lifestyle brand. Such a fun mix of contemporary urban aesthetics with specialty coffee culture. Refreshingly different from your average “Cafe”. Check them out!
