Fort Walla Walla Museum's mission is to deepen the sense of community within the Walla Walla region by safekeeping the past, informing the present, and shaping our future. With a mission to discover, preserve and share the heritage of the Walla Walla region, we maintain a collection of more than 50,000 artifacts and photographs that help tell the stories of the many peoples who have called the reg

ion home. We share this remarkable heritage through exhibits and displays in our Entrance Building & Exhibit Galleries, four spacious exhibit halls, a 17-structure pioneer settlement, as well as through special events, childrens programs, classes, more than 25 Living History presentations, and a number of outreach programs. Through the years the name has changed, but the vision to preserve and share the heritage of "The Cradle of Northwest History" has not wavered.

If you've been by the Ol' Fort in the last couple months, then you've noticed our firehouse doors have disappeared!

Thanks to the dedication of volunteer and board member Larry Nelson, the doors are currently undergoing restoration and receiving a much-needed spa retreat. Many hands make light work, and with the help of business sponsor Walla Walla Electric, the doors were removed on March 6th. Since then, the old paint has been stripped, the glass panes have been removed, and the wood has been treated so each piece can be restored to its full glory.

Thank you to STCU - Community Bank for sponsoring our Open House! 🏛 🎉
Every year, we are reminded of how committed the Walla Walla community is to preserving our history, and we enjoy opening our doors to the public.
Those that joined us will remember a Grand Hall filled with community partners, a scavenger hunt that never hides the same thing twice, and warm spring weather that perfectly matched the mood of the day.

The Board of Directors has begun planning an intensive process for the selection of a new Executive Director. The details of the search and position announcement are expected soon.

We congratulate James and thank him for his 30 years of service to the Walla Walla community.

The students of Liberty Christian did a wonderful job. It is the work of our staff, volunteers, and the generous hands in our community that keep the Pioneer Village in top shape, year after year. ⭐

And just like that... 🪄

With the help of amazing volunteers and dedicated staff, we have installed the "Jo-So Welding Shop" sign above the Jo-So sheep wagon in our transportation building. A fitting union, since the sheep wagon in our collection was made in the very welding shop to which our newest acquisition refers.

Thank you to Barbara Noel for trusting this family heirloom to us. With this sign, we can continue to expand the stories we tell of the Walla Walla Valley. Stop by the museum any time to hear about the history of sheep herding in the Walla Walla Valley.

Today is the last day to donate to Fort Walla Walla Museum through the Valley Giving Guide! ⏰

The VGG matches your donation with bonus funds, making each cent matter more. If you have been waiting for the right time to donate, or forgot to hit send on your end-of-year contributions, now is the perfect time to check off the last gift on your Christmas list.
Thank you to those who have given so far. Your donation today will impact the work we have planned for 2026, including our catalogue of summer events and our celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

We have brought the stories of the valley to life for 57 years, each year challenging ourselves to invest all we have been given back into our community. Your donation creates opportunities for others to explore what makes Walla Walla so meaningful. It is you, our community members, who motivate us, and it is your desire to protect local history that keeps us going.

🎉And here it is, a small snapshot into 2025 at Fort Walla Walla Museum.

This year held a lot for the Museum. We celebrated new events, invited students and visitors alike to discover Inland Northwest history, and spent the year working towards our mission of deepening the sense of community within the Walla Walla region by safe-keeping the past, informing the present, and shaping our future.

It truly takes a village (or a well-trained army) to run Fort Walla Walla Museum. Whether you were a volunteer, member, or supporter, thank you for joining us on this year's journey. ❤
