It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mike Taylor, great grandson of Sam Taylor and Mary Helm, the famous ranching family and longest residents of the Warner Carrillo Ranch House. Mike is pictured left front with his father Chet Taylor who passed last October. Chet's father was Charlie, one of the eight children of Sam and Mary. Chet's parents died very young of tuberculosis and he was raised by his grandparents in the ranch house.
Both men, like many of the Taylors have Cahuilla heritage, went to school in and remained in the Warner Valley.They were also veterans, Mike being a Major in the Marines, and Chet serving in World War II in the South Pacific. Mike attended SDSU with a degree in Criminal Justice. Our sincere condolences to his wife Dianne, brother Wayne, and all members of the historic Taylor family.
