Good day everyone!I wanted to take a few moments and provide an update on something exciting that I am learning in art. I am learning how to create artwork on my virtual reality headset.I haven’t been this excited about technology since I was in 8th grade playing “Pong” with the Atari 2600 on a TV for the first time in Montgomery Wards. I was mesmerized!!!
The butterfly project began by studying the parts of the butterfly so that I could create the basic shapes and segments. I created all the parts and joined them together in the app.
Then…the magic of “painting in the wings” with a crystal-like brush.
And finishing by adding some special effects.
Yes…if you put the headset on…you can walk around and through the butterflies because they are in 3-D. Unfortunately photos are flat and don’t show the dimensional qualities.

My personalized mandala artwork begins with an image (left). My best friend Marsha sent me this close-up image of a beautiful flower from her garden.
I then take “artistic inspiration” from the shapes and lines from within the image and begin a line drawing.
The unique color palette is directly “sampled” from the original image allowing me to paint in color.
Once the mandala is completed, I print the mandala on archival (think long lasting permanence) paper and ink.

Gary and I are participating in the Winter Art Fest 2024.
Stop by and purchase unique gifts for the holidays.
The event is taking place today on Sunday, November 24 from 10AM to 4PM.
Gary is presenting his signature oil paintings and watercolor paintings. Roarke is displaying digitally-created mandalas.
Winter Art Fest 2024 is presented by the artists and crafters of the Valley Artists Guild.
This show includes painting, photography, sculpture, stained glass, fine crafts, cards and prints.
Located in the reception room of the Warren Library on Main Street in Warren, VT.
There is no admission fee but donations will be accepted. Children are always welcome.
