Waseca County Historical Society

To celebrate a century of youth leadership, the Waseca County Historical Society will be featuring a dedicated exhibit showcasing the rich legacy of Waseca County 4-H. Community members who have historic 4-H memorabilia are invited to loan their items for the display.

The Historical Society and Extension Office are looking to collect:

- Historic 4-H projects and fair exhibits
- Vintage uniforms, apparel, or club items
- Accompanying stories or written memories and photos explaining the history behind the item.

Residents willing to loan items for the exhibit should drop them off directly at the Waseca County Extension Office or WCHS along with the owner's contact details and the story behind the piece, along with a photo if available.

THE FLAG IS HERE!

The historic 48-star American flag is now at the museum and will be on display (rolled-up) for ONE DAY ONLY — Friday, September 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

With a little help from Mike and Joe from Van Meter in Owatonna, we safely moved the flag from Hodgson Hall to the museum today. A huge thank-you to them for helping us get this incredible piece of Waseca County history ready for its big moment!

We are so excited to share the flag with the community in the Waseca Marching Classic parade on Saturday!

We’re still looking for volunteers to march alongside the flag! Bring your family and friends and be part of this special moment in Waseca County history. We’d love to have a BIG group walking with the flag!

Volunteers Needed!

Our oversized 48-star American flag has been entered as a non-band unit in the Waseca Marching Classic parade on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

We are looking for 35–50+ volunteers of all ages to march alongside the flag and help hand out stickers to parade spectators. We will also need volunteers to assist with the safe handling and storage of the flag at the museum immediately following the parade.

Weather permitting, parade line-up is scheduled for 10:45 a.m., ahead of the noon start.

This will be the first time the historic flag has been on public display in more than 60 years. We want to make this a special moment for the community, but we need a large group of volunteers to make it happen.

Bring your family and friends and join us in carrying this piece of Waseca County history through the Waseca Marching Classic parade.
