Come out for the 1st Friday Art Walk in Dupont, featuring 13 additional participating galleries and organizations.
ADA Art Gallery is featuring ‘Forward Seasons.”
“Forward Seasons”
by Chong Kang & Elizabeth Keithline

Kang and Keithline paint contemporary abstract environments using color and composition to
mirror the joy, energy and movement of contemporary life. From the caves of Lascaux, to the
cathedrals of Rome to the post-war Abstract Expressionist movement, art is often created as a
reaction to the time in which it is made. Contemporary art continues to express current
circumstances—in this case, the noise and chaos of the 21st century.
Kang captures this expression through bright, sometimes neon color and graphic line. Keithline
uses pale colors and softer lines to express a need for serenity as a panacea for modern times.

🌍📚 ADA University & GW School of Engineering students are making the most of their time in Washington, DC!

Dual degree visiting students in Electrical & Power Engineering, Computer Engineering, and High-Performance Computing recently met with Emil Abbasov, SRC Research Scholar and ADA Senior Instructor in Computer & Information Science. During the session, he shared insights about life in DC, his PhD research journey, and answered students’ questions about PhD opportunities at ADA University.

The group also had the chance to explore one of DC’s most iconic landmarks with a tour of the U.S. Capitol — while enjoying all the sights and experiences the city has to offer. 🇺🇸

This week, at The Washington Center of ADA University, we were delighted to welcome ADA students studying in double-degree programs at George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science and American University Washington College of Law. The students of Electrical & Power Engineering, Computer Engineering & High-Performance Computing spend a semester in Washington DC during their two-year study, while students of law are enrolled in a one-year LLM program at AU.

We had a valuable and productive discussion over lunch, when Galib Mammad informed our students about upcoming changes in ADA University. Students shared their feedback about their studies in the US and offered their insights to make these partnerships more valuable.

Forward Seasons
by Artists Chong Kang and Elizabeth Keithline

Kang and Keithline paint contemporary abstract environments using color and composition to mirror the joy, energy, and movement of contemporary life.
From the caves of Lascaux to the cathedrals of Rome to the post-war Abstract Expressionist movement, art is often created as a reaction to the time in which it is made. Contemporary art continues to express current circumstances—in this case, the noise and chaos of the 21st century.

Chong Kang captures this expression through bright, sometimes neon color and graphic line.

Elizabeth Keithline uses pale colors and softer lines to express a need for serenity as a panacea for modern times.

Chong Kang
Art shapes forms and colors, creating a narrative that resonates with everyone’s personal experience. There is a relationship between the classical periods in art and modernity that she constantly explores in her paintings. Chong utilizes urban and natural environments as symbolic subjects. Her exaggerated tones and neon colors document contemporary times.

Elizabeth Keithline
Keithline’s work focuses on human self-extension and its effects. In 1996, she invented a sculpture technique wherein wire is woven around an object and then burned out, leaving behind a wire “memory.”

Keithline’s interest in how far an abstraction can go—how many iterations of a thought can be manifested—is ongoing. Her recent work at 11 Jane Street focused on driving forth her wire sculptures, which were once simply an idea in her mind, further on, potentially into eternity, from cast shadows, through to drawings and paintings of the shadows onto paper, canvas, and panels.
