"Hey there! I’m Melissa Ingala, and I’ll be taking over Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History’s feed for the week. I’m a Peter Buck / Global Genome Initiative Fellow in the museum’s Division of Mammals. I study bats, and my research focuses on the interactions between bat hosts and their associated bacteria and fungi. One of my favorite things about the changing seasons is the return of plants, animals, and especially 🦇 !

Over the next week, I’m going to share some stories about what bats do during different seasons, and what they’re up to this time of year." - Melissa Ingala, Peter Buck / Global Genome Initiative Fellow at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
