We’re so grateful to have shared this film with such a full and thoughtful room. Seeing our community come together around food, storytelling, laughter, and conversation made today especially meaningful. Yesterday’s gathering at the Chinese American Museum in Washington, DC was more than an event—it was a powerful reminder of what happens when communities come together with intention and respect. Through this meaningful collaboration with The Links, Incorporated, we witnessed the strength of shared stories, collective advocacy, and cultural diplomacy in action.

From honoring history to inspiring future generations, the voices and leadership in the room reflected a deep commitment to equity, representation, and connection across cultures. We’re excited to invite you to a special author talk at the Chinese American Museum DC on April 25, 2026, featuring Judy Ikels and her book Death in Wartime China.

Presented alongside our current exhibition Soaring for Peace: The Flying Tigers Legacy, this program offers a powerful, personal perspective that brings history to life through an intimate family story.

In this moving talk, Ikels shares the story of a young B-24 bomber pilot who lost his life during wartime in China—and her journey as his posthumous daughter to understand his sacrifice and its lasting meaning. It’s a reflection on loss, legacy, and resilience that connects deeply with broader history.

We’re excited to be working on an upcoming exhibition exploring the daring story of the Flying Tigers, the American Volunteer Group who took to the skies over China in 1941–1942. Led by Claire Lee Chennault, these pilots flew P-40 Warhawks with their iconic shark-mouth designs, defending Chinese cities and supply lines against Japanese attacks. Stay tuned—our exhibition is coming in January!
