Tonight at the gallery, from 6:30-9:30pm, the Justice for Muslims Collective will be hosting a community gathering. Join us for a night of art, music, poetry, and a community conversation around themes of home and belonging for Muslim immigrants and the diaspora. There will also be a conversation between Sobia Ahmad, whose solo show Imbrications is up in the space, and Darakshan Raja of JMC. The talk will focus on the way Ahmad's art relates to her identity as a Muslim woman, and the healing her art fosters. Mingle and eat some food from 6:30 until 7:30, when the conversation between Ahmad and Raja will begin. From 8-9:30 there will be an open mic, poetry reading, and community reflection. Drop by Gallery 102 tonight to experience the power of storytelling in art and activism, and to share your own experiences with immigration and belonging.
