Have you ever wondered what it takes to bring a traveling exhibition to life?

Step behind the scenes of “The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau” at The Society of the Four Arts and hear from curator and Director of Fine Arts Rebecca Dunham, alongside our incredible registrar Faith Herrington.

Drawn from the extraordinary holdings of Chrysler Museum & Glass Studio, this exhibition celebrates the florid, languorous curves, natural motifs, and refined elegance that define Art Nouveau. Furniture, glass, prints, and design come together to create an immersive environment that reflects the movement’s vision of art as a total, unified experience.

What visitors see is only part of the story.

Faith traveled to Florida to assist with the careful handling and installation of the collection, just one piece of the detailed and often unseen work that makes exhibitions like this possible.

With women and the female form so prominent in Art Nouveau, it feels especially meaningful to recognize the women behind the scenes whose expertise and care shape how these works are experienced.

As Faith shares: “Much of museum work happens out of view, but it requires precision, trust, and accountability. It’s rewarding to contribute to that work in a field where women are increasingly defining both the process and the standard.”

Watch the video for a closer look at the exhibition and the work that brings it to life.

In honor of the final day of Women’s History Month, we’re revisiting Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass—and the women behind it.

Co-curated by Dr. Letitia Chambers and artist Cathy Short (Citizen Potawatomi Nation), the exhibition brings together more than 120 works by Native American and Indigenous Pacific Rim artists working in glass. Since its 2023 debut, it has drawn over 65,000 visitors across seven venues, and due to strong demand, the tour has been extended through Spring 2029. It is currently on view at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian through May 29.

Women represent nearly 75% of the arts workforce, and through exhibitions like Clearly Indigenous, IA&A is proud to support artists and curators who are expanding the narrative of contemporary art.

Take a peek at some of the incredible work featured in our traveling exhibition, “America Abroad: Art as Diplomacy”!

“America Abroad” features 65 works from the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies Original Print and Photography Collections. Since 1989, they have been available for Ambassadors and State Department personnel to curate their own collections. The exhibition will offer audiences the chance to learn about diplomacy and see American art from an international perspective, as if they were a visitor at one of our embassies.

FAPE’s Original Print Collection is its oldest program and began in 1989 when Frank Stella donated “The Symphony” in an edition large enough for a print to be sent to every American embassy. Each year an artist contributes to the collection, and it now includes 35 editions.

In 2013, FAPE established a similar collection of American photography, inaugurated with works by artists Tina Barney and William Wegman. There are now 16 artists in the collection, including these photographs by Sidney B. Felsen.

David M. Rubenstein’s landmark gift to FAPE in 2013 of a historic replica of the 1823 Stone Declaration of Independence for each U.S. embassy will also be included in the exhibition. This historic document is installed around the world from Ottawa to Beijing.

📅 The exhibition is now open for bookings from 2026 to 2030! To view the full prospectus and checklist, email Senior Marketing Manager, Nicole Byers at [email protected].
