How HomrGrown began...

When I was a little girl my father told me "I can own a business." He not only encouraged me to be an entrepreneur but to learn the basics about how business worked. My first foray into business was selling hand painted sweatshirts at a flea market at 19 years old.

From there i've worked festivals and craft shows up and down the East coast as well as vended on weekends at DC's Eastern Market. I sold hand painted clothing gift items as well as jewelry. I did that for 22 years. All the while my dad's of "owning my own business” words stuck in mind.

Fast forward to November 5. 2005 I finally opened a brick and mortar art gallery called HomeGrown Creations, LLC. that sold the art of local Washington, DC artists. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis four months prior to the store's opening. Despite the diagnosis I went ahead and opened the store. I wasn't going to allow the disease to destroy my vision. During the two years I had the store I was asymptomatic. It was one of the happiest time in my life.

Now I'm am disabled but still yearn to to do business. Now I’m online creating designs on products that are affordable and great for personal use or gifts. Health permitting I'll continue living this life as an artist and an entrepreneur.
