Wasilla Museum Wasilla Museum & Historic Town Site The City of Wasilla’s FIRST Museum

We have relocated to 391 N Main Street, in the old library building. Page Center.

Our mission: Using stories and imagination to foster community. Share - Remember - Engage. The log building that used to house the museum is now the Dorothy G. The building was erected in 1931 as a community hall. It became the center for social functions, including dances, political meetings and basketball games. It served this important function for over 30 years before the structure began to d

eteriorate in the 1960’s. The log building was repaired and founded as Wasilla’s first museum in 1967 by Dorothy G. Page and the 1967 Alaska Centennial Committee. Today it is being renovated and returned to the 1931 Community Hall and will be available for rentals and other programming. Dorothy G. Page was a major pioneer in the city’s preservation movement and founded the Museum and Town Site. The Town Site houses many of Wasilla's historic structures, including Wasilla’s first school. The 1917 school house and 1931 Log Community Hall are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, reflecting the architectural and social histories of early Wasilla pioneers. Today, the Museum continues to collect photos, objects and stories of Wasilla. We want your stories. You are the history of Wasilla and we want to showcase YOU! Contact the Museum for more information. Tours are available for various school and civic groups as well!

It may be Pi Day, but today is also NATIONAL CHILDREN’S CRAFT DAY!

Each year, National Children’s Craft Day on March 14th unleashes a boost of creative energy right in the middle of National Craft Month. The day celebrates crafting with children. By opening children’s eyes to the world of crafts, we spark their imagination, and from there, the possibilities are endless.

Crafting can give children a sense of accomplishment as well as help build their self-esteem. As with adults, crafting reduces stress in children, too.

If you can't make it in for National Children's Craft Day, we invite you to stop by Tuesdays - Fridays from 10:30am to 2:30pm for free crafts @ the Wasilla Museum.
